Wells Branch Community Library District is an active neighborhood library district located just outside the city limits of Austin, TX. We are a self-contained library with a robust calendar of both traditional and diverse programming.
The Youth Services Librarian manages programs, services, and collections for patrons ages 0-18 at the library. This person will also oversee other employees and manage the budget for youth collections, supplies and performers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, promote, deliver, and evaluate programs for ages 0-18
Manage, maintain and evaluate the youth collections including collection development, deselection, and assurance of proper MARC records.
Create and maintain relationships with area schools and other appropriate venues to promote library services and partnerships.
Maintain records on costs (direct and indirect), attendance, and outcomes for programs.
Supervise library operations and serve as emergency after-hours contact in rotation with other librarians and the director.
Qualifications:
Friendly and welcoming attitude towards everyone
Master's Degree in Library Science
Management experience
Program creation and delivery experience
Demonstrated competence with basic computer functions as used in the library setting.
Excellent customer service, communication, and organization skills
Problem solving, flexibility, and willingness to make decisions and take responsibility for the outcomes
Knowledge of children's and youth literature, learning styles, and literary education standards
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
