Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Previous library work experience desirable.
- Experience with computer software and technology, including use of electronic catalog (SIRSI/Dynix Symphony preferred).
- Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Internet search skills.
- Experience with PC maintenance desirable.
- Presentation experience and skill.
- Ability to accomplish objectives in a team setting.
- Good communication skills, oral and written.
- Possess Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
Primary Job Duties:
- Acts as working supervisor of Branch activities in the absence of the Branch Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Provides reference and reader's advisory services including online computer searching and instruction.
- Assists in maintaining and developing the library collections, including print, audio/visual and electronic resources.
- Implements and interprets library policies for library users and staff.
- Selects materials for the circulating and reference collections.
- Helps develop and maintain the ready reference file.
- Reference librarian is responsible for facilities and operations when working weekend and evening shifts.
- Attends and participates in professional activities, conferences and committees.
- Plans, organizes/presents programs to address service needs and training.
- Maintains an awareness of professional trends, methods and ethics.
- Performs other work as needed.
