Position Description
Harris County Public Library - Administrative Offices
Works as part of the Harris County Public Library (HCPL) Programs, Partnerships and Outreach Division team to provide in-person and virtual library services to partner and community facilities throughout Harris County.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides remote library services and programming to community center outreach locations, including holds pick up, browsing collections, basic reference and computer assistance

Provides informal instruction for all ages through library programs

Creates virtual and in-person programming for all ages

Curates and maintains collections and displays for partner facilities and provides circulation assistance

Provides basic information and readers' advisory assistance
-
Maintains cooperative relationships with local schools, youth organizations, and community groups
-
Responsible for collecting new content assets or to photograph an event to complete content; travel to our library branches or outreach sites required

Requirements
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor's Degree (all majors considered)
-
At least six (6) months of experience in public speaking
-
At least six (6) months of experience in editing and creating digital programs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Must have reliable transportation to/from work sites
-
Great communication skills (written & verbal)
-
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

Well versed in Social Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

Comfortable with teaching themselves technology software and hardware; self-learner
-
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively with a team

Harris County Public Library (HCPL) - History
What began in 1921 and the years following as a collection of small libraries housed in stores, post offices and private homes has grown into a system of 26 branch buildings, 2 technology service centers, and 2 partner locations offering collection/circulation services. HCPL operates branches in unincorporated parts of Harris County and cities which do not have their own library systems.

Full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday

May include evenings and Saturdays as needed
Salary:

$21.86 per hour

Paid biweekly
Physical Requirements:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Works in an outdoor environment at times. Possible exposure to inclement weather or various temperature changes.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
