Good Shepherd Episcopal School seeks an Educational Innovator and Facilitator to work in
the Modern Learning Department. The main responsibility of this role is implementing and
integrating modern, innovative problem solving concepts using design thinking and maker education
tools and techniques with an interdisciplinary approach across all levels of curriculum in
prekindergarten through eighth grade. This position reports directly to the Director of Modern
Learning.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
-Collaborate with classroom faculty to create, maintain, and deliver instructional resources around
the integration of maker experiences and design thinking approaches to curriculum and grade level
classes and/or class projects
-Manage and maintain the SPARQ (Solving Problems and Asking Real-world Questions) maker space
including the evaluation of modern maker tools, creative tools and problem solving processes for
potential use in instructional areas
-Lead SPARQ and Design Thinking Professional Development for faculty and staff and manage
overall acquisition and implementation of SPARQ equipment and activities
-Assist in SPARQ troubleshooting technology problems and offer support to students for related
problems and challenges
-Research modern approaches to maker education and design thinking presenting students and
faculty the latest trends
-Develop policy and classroom management structures for Maker Experiences and Design Thinking
challenges
-Teach one or more middle school elective or exploration courses around maker education and
design thinking and innovation
-Manage daily logistics for SPARQ, i.e. Calendar Management for activities in the space, Making
Repairs of equipment, Installing new equipment, and Promotion of learning opportunities in the
space.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL NEED:
-A bachelor's degree, master's degree preferred, in Maker related discipline such as Architecture,
Engineering or Design
-Educational background to evaluate activities and tools and preferred specialized training or
equivalent experience in instructional technology and digital literacy
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL NEED:
-Five years of teaching experience using modern tools and techniques including design thinking
-Knowledge of creating modern, innovative learning environments and Maker Tools such as 3D
Printer, Laser Cutter, Vinyl Cutter and Hand Tools
