The TCU Library is conducting an open search for the Innovation Collaborator.
Job Summary:
The Innovation Collaborator is responsible for leading the development and implementation of academic applications using emerging technologies. This position will work with others to provide technology assistance in the Library. The Innovation Collaborator will promote awareness and use of technology resources including but not limited to 3D printing, audio visual editing, and virtual reality.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Assists users in identification, evaluation, and use of emerging technologies and creation of media-rich projects with fabrication tools visualization tools or audio video editing software.
- Leads programmatic initiatives for new technologies in the Library including multimedia, visualization, fabrication and development for new collaboration technologies.
- Develops educational and marketing materials and programming to promote, highlight and teach students and faculty about new technologies and applications
- Partners with Librarians and faculty to identify curricular applications for new technologies
- Serves as an intellectual collaborator and teacher who inspire students to create, partner, experiment, and share.
- Hires, trains and supervises students to support and work with specialized technologies.
- Applies understanding of creative and media arts and educational technologies to the strategic directions of the Library and its integration with the broader University.
- Maintains technological expertise and skills by attending continuing education opportunities including webinars, workshops, user-groups, self-initiated learning opportunities and/or conferences.
- Collaborates with TCU's Information Technology Department, Koehler Center for Teaching Excellence and Center for Instructional Services to assure compliance with campus policies regarding specialized technologies in the Library.
- Develops programs, training and workshops to showcase technology applications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 years of experience using audio/video equipment and editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Studio, HTML editors or fabrication tools, or data visualization software, demonstrated by a portfolio of completed projects.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Master's Degree in Educational Technology, Librarianship or related field of study.
- 1 year of experience in a makerspace.
- 1 plus year of relevant experience managing networked computing in an educational context such as computer labs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of marketing and outreach strategies.
- Knowledge of current trends, issues and best practices with emerging technologies in academic settings.
- Skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and implement specialized technology such as large format printing, 3D printing, or virtual reality software and hardware.
- Ability to set priorities, take initiatives and manage deadlines independently.
- Ability to write clear, accurate communications and other documentation.
- Ability to verbally communicate information about complex scenarios to multiple constituencies.
- Ability to analyze data and make local decisions based on national trends.
