Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, or equivalent major, from an ALA-accredited university required.  Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited university preferred. Minimum 2 years of work experience in public library or similar operation preferred. 

    The City of Azle seeks an enthusiastic Children's Services Librarian to join the Azle Memorial Library staff. The Azle Memorial Library serves a growing population of residents who value a small community feel while maintaining access to the Fort Worth metro area. This is an excellent opportunity for a librarian who can independently spearhead children's services, while maintaining close coordination with a dedicated library team.

    The ideal candidate will:

    • Exhibit a high level of creativity for planning innovative services, programming, and community outreach.
    • Have a solid working knowledge of collection development, reference sources, and databases, especially as they relate to children.
    • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft software, marketing software (such as Canva), and knowledge of Internet and social media platforms.
    • Have familiarity with modern librarianship and early childhood development.
    • Make competent decisions; remain organized; and meet deadlines.
    • Applicants must be effective communicators and comfortable working with people of all ages, dispositions, and backgrounds.

    The Librarian will:

    • Spearhead the design and implementation of programs for children.
    • Coordinate closely with the library team to develop additional programming for all ages and community-wide events.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of the children's collection.
    • Instruct in the use of library technology and online resources.
    • Foster community partnerships.
    • Provide reference and reader's advisory to all ages, with emphasis on children.
    • Assist with circulation duties.
    • Assist with technical processing and classification of materials.
    • Coordinate library volunteers.

    Standard schedule:
    Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday hours. Shifts may begin as early as 9:00 AM and end as late as 8 PM.

    Full Pay Range:
    $51,066 - $70,450 annually
