Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Full-Time Children's Librarian. As a Children's Librarian, you will play a pivotal role in engaging young minds, promoting literacy, and creating enriching experiences for children of all ages.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and innovative children's programs, including storytimes, craft activities, and educational workshops.
- Manage the Family Place Program grant.
- Provide reference and reader's advisory services to children and caregivers, assisting them in finding age-appropriate materials and resources.
- Curate and maintain a diverse collection of children's books, multimedia materials, and educational resources, ensuring accessibility and relevance to the community's needs and interests.
- Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote literacy initiatives and outreach programs.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages children to explore, learn, and discover the joy of reading and lifelong learning.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in children's librarianship, attending professional development opportunities and networking with colleagues in the field.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with children in a library or educational setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of children's literature and literacy development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with children, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children and promoting a love of reading and learning.
