Materials challenges in school and public libraries are increasing at a dramatic rate in Texas and around the country. In the heat of this public outcry, librarians are seeking tools and resources to support their efforts to keep books on the shelves. But the legal and policy issues can be confusing and complicated. At this TLA Talks, experts will provide information on legal precedents, how librarians can protect themselves, and their students’ and patrons’ right to read.

Presenters: Joy Baskin, Director of Legal Services, Texas Association of School Boards and Deborah Caldwell-Stone, Director, ALA Office of Intellectual Freedom.

Moderator: Mary Woodard, Director of Library Services, Mesquite ISD.

Please submit questions by Friday, January 21 via this online form. The panelists will address questions received in advance, in addition to those posted in the chat during the session. You will receive the link to the webinar the day before the event.

Cost: Free for TLA members; $25 for nonmembers
