    Working Title: NGL Marketing and Events Coordinator 

     

    PLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

     

    Position-Class Code: Full-Time 

     

    Occupational Category: Technical/Para-Professional 

     

    Educational and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations/Advertising, or related field. Two years professional experience in writing, marketing, social media, public relations, event planning.  Experience in a library and/or an academic environment is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. 

     

    Nature & Purpose of Position: Provide a vision, leadership, policy development, and management for an integrated marketing program and related communications and events to promote and advance SHSU Library's mission and priorities. 

     

    Primary Responsibilities:  

    • Serves as library liaison to University Marketing & Communications and other university units for marketing and communications functions.    
    • Participates in the development, implementation, and management of the Library's marketing plan to promote library services and resources internally to students, faculty, and staff, and externally to prospective students, their families, alumni, and the surrounding community. 
    • Coordinates and provides professional leadership in developing and maintaining the Library's social media presence. 
    • Creates compelling content for print and online outlets, to promote and support the Library's priorities and goals.  
    • Conducts market research and assess the effectiveness of marketing & communication efforts. 
    • Exhibits knowledge of and adherence to all university branding guidelines and Marketing & Communications policies.  
    • Oversees Library event operations, includes planning, organizing, marketing, budgeting, and staffing. Coordinates venue, equipment, invitations, and correspondence material.  
    • Creates programs, agendas, and promotional literature for Library events, including content and graphic design. Maintains project files, including documentation and correspondence.  
    • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

     

    Other Specifications: 

     

    • Maintains contacts with personnel.  
    • Requires effective skills in written, oral, and interpersonal communication.  
    • Requires thorough knowledge of office systems, especially Microsoft Office Programs, and familiarity with graphic design using Canva or Adobe products.  
    • Must be able to form effective relationships both internally and externally.  
    • Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision.  
    • Must be a take charge professional with the ability to plan and manage logistics and multiple projects in support of the Library.  
    • Must work well with people and establish good rapport with all University personnel.  
    • May be required to work occasional evening or weekends according to program needs. 
    • Requires proficiency in social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook. 

     

     

    Supervision Given and Received:  

    Works under general direction and supervises student assistant(s).  May also provide direction to team members of an event, including SHSU staff, faculty, and student assistants. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Library. 

     

    Hours per week:  Full-time, 40 hours per week 
    Some flexible working arrangements, including up to 20% of telecommuting time, can be determined between the employee and their supervisor.
