    SUMMARY:

    Liaison Librarians cultivate productive relationships with the library's affiliated institutions in order to integrate library resources in the curricula, research, and clinical operations of the Texas Medical Center. This position will be the library's point of contact for faculty and students as liaison to one of the designated institutions served by the TMC Library. Liaison Librarians are expected to have command of literature searching skills to provide instruction to students and faculty and work independently performing literature searches and systematic reviews.

    Liaison Librarians promote services and resources; participate in professional and scholarly organizations and activities; pursue personal professional development; and maintain awareness of evolving trends in library and information science.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Conduct comprehensive literature searches and systematic reviews
    2. Develop and maintain a working, interactive, and dynamic relationship with faculty, students, and staff in assigned disciplines
    3. Participate as liaison for faculty and students in a designated institution
    4. Provide consultations to meet the research information needs of faculty and students
    5. Promote library resources and services by participating in liaison institution meetings
    6. Develop and teach classes, instructional videos and webinars
    7. Create specialized LibGuides for liaison institutions
    8. Provide on-call reference service
    9. Recommend appropriate resource additions to the library collection
    10. Collaborate with other departments to ensure that clients' needs are met
    11. Assist and support other librarians and staff when needed

    Education and Experience:

    Required:

    Master's degree in library science (or equivalent) from an ALA-Accredited program, two years of advanced searching experience in medical databases for non-entry level position.

    Desired:

    Working knowledge of medical libraries, experience conducting literature systematic reviews, background in health or life sciences.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    1. Usual Environment – office, library

    3. Physical Requirements – standing, sitting, walking, some light lifting

    Schedule:

    • 8 hour shift

        Pay: $52,000.00 per year
