    • The managers in Neighborhood Libraries are responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the respective branches including coordinating programs and outreach, training, mentoring, and supervising staff, and ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional customer service. 
    • Neighborhood library managers at passport acceptance facilities, which include Collier and Stella Link Regional Libraries, will ensure passport staff and the facility are trained and remain compliant with passport requirements. 
    • In addition to regular library services, Collier Regional Library serves as HPL's learning laboratory; the manager will also serve as a trainer for peers and new employees and showcase best practices in library operations.  They should be supportive and encouraging to staff as they learn new skills and model appropriate behavior for others.  They will also assist in creation of training sessions and host sessions in the library.
    • The Adult Programming manager at the Central Library will coordinate services and programs for adults including seniors at the Central Library, oversee assigned staff, and work with systemwide programming and International Services for adult and senior programs. 
     

    The Librarian III Managers will:

    • Posses exceptional leadership skills to oversee and manage the activities and daily operations of a single Neighborhood Library location or an area of the Central Library;
    • Take initiative to creatively solve problems and possess sound decision-making skills;
    • Ensure employees are trained, prepared, motivated, productive, and challenged in their work assignments to ensure maximum performance;
    • Exhibit a high level of creativity for adaptive and innovative services, programming, and outreach;
    • Establish and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with community groups, other government agencies, community organizations, other employees, and the public;
    • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft and Internet software, electronic devices such as e-readers and tablets, and other technologies;
    • Interact with customers at the Customer Service Desk and roving, assisting with information requests, technology assistance, and programming.
    • Make recommendations for improvements in services and collection;
    • Serve as the person in charge and work one evening a week and every other weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday); and
    Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
    Requires a Master of Library Science degree from a school accredited by the American Library Association.
     
    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    Three (3) years of library experience are required, including one (1) year of management experience.


    PREFERENCES

    **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
    • Experience in personnel management and supervision.
    • Ability to plan and organize work and skilled at prioritization.
    • Knowledge of library operations and organization, including services, activities, staffing, facilities, and equipment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with others.
    • Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds.
    • Experience providing training to colleagues preferred.
    • Knowledge of library trends and current versions of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Sirsi Symphony.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
