How to post in TLA Jobline

TLA Jobline posts are listed in chronological order of post-date. To help jobseekers search through posts, please follow the format below.

Example: Reference Librarian- Austin Public Library- Austin, TX-  Public
    • Position Title (example: Reference Librarian, Elementary Librarian, Librarian Coordinator)
    • Employer Name (Example: Austin Public Library)
    • City (example: Austin, TX)
    • Library Type (Example: Academic, School, Public, Science)

    HASHTAGS:

Thank you for the guide to posting. I was beginning to miss how the old system would allow searching through the posts. Will the TLA Jobline eventually have the filters like the ALA Jobline so you can search through the posts by library type, job type, etc? I'm concerned that posts added to this list are getting lost in the shuffle.

Additionally, I wondered if the old position posts will eventually disappear or if it is up to the person posting to remove it.

I appreciate TLA's hard work to keep up with the changing time.

    Thank you,

    Alex

    Hi Alexia,

Thank you for the feedback! This job board will not have filters setup like ALA but any word or hashtag can be used to filter through the posts. Use the search bar on the top left corner, then filter to the TLA Jobline Community using the filters on the right-hand side and sort by "Most Recent".

Below is a screenshot of a search for an "elementary" position.

    Thank you!

I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I want to ensure I understand the process and how to guide others as needed.

Is there a guide or video to assist those searching, so they know how to find jobs within the list? Could a list be developed of potential keywords to use for uniform searches?

Thank you for your time and patience,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

I like the idea of developing a list of potential keyword searches for those job seekers who need special aid or first time job seekers (or people who have been unemployed for a while and have a hard time getting back to the workforce). Christy provided a good example. If you want to go ahead and create a list and share with the community, that will be great. I'm sure people will give you feedback here and it's something helpful that you can do.

I think this is a good idea, but a hive mind might be better than one person. We could start with the keywords available from the ALA Joblist. Is anyone else interested in helping?

I tried deleting my post in the job line so I could follow your guide with my new post. How do we delete?  3

    Thank you,

    Hey Alex,

All jobs are created equal. I'm sure Christy will give you the professional guidance. I would leave the old job post in the archives for future job seekers and meanwhile start a new post with a new subject line.

    Hello, Christy,

Is there a way to edit a job post?  The Director of one of our other campus libraries asked me to post a job on TLA Jobline as I am a TxLA member and she is not.  I did so, with the information she provided (which is also complicated now because the "link" is to me) -- but now she says applicants have to go through Cornerstone so she wants me to include that link in the job posting.  I admit:  This is above my pay grade.  Can you help me, please?

    Thank you,

    Sherron
