The TCU Library is conducting an open search for the Head of Access Services.
Job Summary:
The Head of Access Services is responsible for managing the Library's Access Services department. Areas of responsibility include circulation, interlibrary loan, and the offsite high-density shelving facility.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Manages Circulation services by resolving and reconciling financial and inventory disputes using Library's integrated library computing system and University's integrated financial and student services computing systems, communicating with student financial services staff.
- Promotes customer service excellence by managing patron accounts, developing expertise with all Circulation functions in the integrated system, problem solving, expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution.
- Represents the library internally and externally by administering the TexShare card program, working with Donor Relations to provide support for the Clark Society library program, and overseeing copyright issues.
- Oversees the library collection by supervising collection maintenance, stacks management, remote storage, electronic and hard copy reserves.
- Ensures efficient material fulfillment to library patrons by scheduling, supervising, and participating in daily operations of the offsite high-density shelving facility; troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
- Oversees Interlibrary Loan by promoting resource sharing through the borrowing and lending of library materials globally.
- Supervises library specialists by training and mentoring; advising and answering questions; writing and implementing procedures; appraising job results through performance evaluations.
- Contributes to library internal communication by serving on committees, task forces, and teams, as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- Masters Library Science (ALA accredited)
- 3 years' library experience
- Background in using an integrated library system and OCLC
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Supervisory capacity to include management and/or leadership experience
- Interlibrary Loan
- High density shelving operations
- Circulation department
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of information and bibliographic management systems and their application to access and user services
