    Essential Job Functions:

    This position will include supervising personnel; planning and setting future goals for the division as well as individual staff; promoting the programs and services of the library to the community. Other duties include answering customer inquiries in person, online, and by phone; and interacting with other City employees and citizens. Position requires frequent interaction with citizens as well as other City employees to further the departmental and city-wide goals and objectives.

    Other responsibilities include:

    • Manages the daily functions of the program division. Coordinates with the Library Services Manager to ensure that the divisions' activities are aligned with the library system's goals and initiatives.
    • Collaborates with other Administrators to create a unified approach to all areas of library services.
    • Plans and implements a curriculum of programs designed to meet the educational, informational, and entertainment needs of the community, ensuring that programming is provided for all ages through management of staff and resources.
    • Directly supervises library programmers, coordinators, and/or service representatives by approving leave; counseling employees; observing and monitoring work tasks; providing feedback to employees; evaluating work performance and coaching employees to correct deficiencies; implements disciplinary and termination procedures when necessary; selects and hires new employees and coordinates training for department personnel.
    • Resolves scheduling conflicts and ensures that adequate personnel are available to carry out necessary functions.
    • Provides planning for the library by attending library supervisors' meetings; prepares the programming team's request list for funding approval from the Friends of the Library; and meets with professional staff to help determine the goals and direction of library services.
    • Coordinates with all other areas of the library system to maintain an efficient, effective, and supportive team environment to implement division-wide and system-wide initiatives.
    • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.
    • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.

    Qualifications, Salary, and Closing Date:

    • Education: Master's Degree Preferred, Bachelor's Required with specialization in Library/Information Science, Education, or other related field. Master's in Library/Information Science highly preferred.
    • Experience: 3 years of directly related experience in planning and implementing programs. One year in a supervisory role preferred.
    • Licenses: Valid Driver's Texas License required
    • Salary Range: $60,306.00 - $93,794.00 annually
    • Closing Date: 1/4/2024 5:00pm Central
