    First Year Experience Librarian - OPEN UNTIL FILLED. 
    Texas State University Libraries is seeking forward-thinking, user-oriented, energetic, collaborative applicants for the position of First Year Experience Librarian. This position develops information and digital literacy resources, builds campus partnerships, and creates strategies to support first-time and transfer student success and retention.
    Job Duties:

    • Collaborate with faculty and other academic professionals in planning, implementing, and assessing information, digital literacy programming, and curriculum, specifically, the First Year Research Program.
    • Collaborate with Teaching & Learning colleagues to create and maintain Digital Learning Objects using instructional design best practices; continue to execute and improve the FYR Foundations Canvas course.
    • Evaluate instruction program and conduct assessment of student learning outcomes instruction sessions
    • Serve as the library's primary point of contact for all FYE Initiatives; Represent the library at orientation programs such as NSO and Bobcat Welcome.
    • Foster partnerships with other campus units providing academic and social support to Transfer Students, including the Transfer Student Center
    • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with researchers, faculty, students, and research centers in the assigned liaison areas through outreach, instruction, and research support services.
    • Contribute to strategic initiatives, Open Education projects, grants, and special projects.
    • Explore and pilot new ways of engaging with a diverse student community in collaboration with librarians, teaching faculty, and synergistic campus partners.


    Required Qualifications (don't be afraid!): 

    • Master's degree from an ALA accredited program.
    • Familiarity with current theory, practices, issues, and trends related to metaliteracy, including the Digital Literacy Framework (Virginia Tech), Metaliteracy Learning Collaborative, and ACRL Information Literacy Framework.
    • Writing skills to create instructional materials, statistical reports, and general correspondence.
    • Strong oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
    • Computer skills and familiarity with emerging technologies / Ability to assess and learn new technologies quickly.
    • Initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
      Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for a diverse patron population.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience in teaching or with instructional planning and design.
    • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods of face-to-face and online learning.
      Knowledge of visual communication or graphic design skills.
    Monthly Salary $4,166.67 + Commensurate with experience
