    Description
     

    The Digital Strategy Data Librarian is responsible for coordinating all aspects of resource acquisitions and collection development. Reporting to the Associate Director of Technology and Resource Management, the incumbent will coordinate incoming acquisitions work and act as a pivot to develop and manage the library collections using various acquisition models. The position also serves as a library faculty liaison and involves professional development and various committee services.

    Duties:

    • Coordinates and processes the procurement and receipt of library materials in all formats, including but not limited to allocating and expending collections budget, preparing and processing orders/invoices, performing bibliographic verification and import, tracking and monitoring encumbrances and expenditures, and managing the reconciliation of payments between the ILS system and the university financial system.
    • Maintains and analyzes acquisitions budgets and collections' usage statistics to develop and implement efficient and cost-effective collection development and acquisition strategies for acquiring a diverse range of materials.
    • Collaborates with Research and Instruction Librarians on developing the best practices and workflows for acquisitions and collection development, including selecting and ordering materials, facilitating the use of GOBI and providing budget guidance, and building greater programmatic awareness and transparency through the collections lifecycle.
    • Collaborates with Electronic Resources Librarian and library faculty liaisons in the licensing, purchase, inventory entitlement, renewal and cancellation workflows and decisions for the library materials in all formats. 
    • Serves as a library faculty liaison for assigned disciplines.
    • Participates in and contributes to departmental, library, and campus-wide, system-wide committees or working groups and performs related duties as assigned.
     
    Qualifications
     

    Required:

    1. Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.
    2. Progressively professional acquisition or collection development experience in an academic library environment.
    3. Demonstrated knowledge of or experience in acquisition workflow, collections budget planning, financial reporting, and collection development/assessment.
    4. Knowledge and ability to keep abreast of acquisition models and collection development trends, such as DDA and STL.
    5. Relative experience working with library resource vendors and purchasing in an institutional context.
    6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    7. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
    8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial and diverse environment.

    Desired:

    • Two years of recent acquisition experience in an academic or research library.
    • Experience working with the Ex Libris Alma/Primo library services.
    • Experience working with PeopleSoft.
