    Description:
    This position works closely with students, faculty and public patrons to provide library services. Great communication skills and patience to work at the patron's pace are essential. Nights and weekends are required.
    Responsibilities:
     Reference duties including awareness of changes in content of databases, assisting students from The Writing Studio, and answer Ask-A-Librarian questions  Open library as scheduled  Support student & part-time workers including: screen students to hire, communicate with Work-Study personnel and HR, create work schedule  Library instruction classes  Create and update library tutorial videos  Teaching individual students how to navigate physical and digital library resources  Training students & PT workers including proper shelving techniques, database fundamentals, receiving cash and operating cash register, and testing lib assistants for comprehension of policies and procedures  Collection development for serials including: manage yearly serials subscription orders, notify technical services of changes from EBSCO  Assist in weeding collection  Interlibrary loan service using OCLC WMS ILL system and maintain statistics for AIP/IPEDS  Assist dual credit librarians by discussing resources available, helping with logging in, demonstrating how to use resources, and work with BLC Coordinator to get librarians into system  Create library surveys, analyze survey results and share with library staff to support AIP  Library newsletter to campus  Assist technical services by cataloging new materials, withdrawing materials, covering and repairing books  Keep statistics on library instruction, interlibrary loan, reference questions, books covered and repaired  Work with AIP: planning and data collection  Review and advise on policies and procedures manual  Review and advise on database subscriptions  Manage patrons  Maintain Texana and Serials  Submit work orders for library maintenance  Other duties as assigned  Be available to work as needed to ensure all library hours are covered
    Minimum Qualifications:
     Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program  High level of technical skills with teaching experience  Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills  Must be able to work in a typical office environment, including appropriate computer skills Supervisory Responsibilities:  0 Full-Time Direct Reports 0 Part-Time Direct Reports Physical Demands and Work Environment:  Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.  No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
    Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
    Salary range for this twelve-month position is $52,000-$58,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Health, life, and income protection insurance are provided. An excellent retirement program through the Teacher Retirement System and generous paid leave time are also furnished. In addition, full time employees have free use of the college's recreational/fitness facilities and tuition scholarships are available for the employee and dependent children. Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
